Overview: This disease is a congenital physical anomaly in humans and animals resulting in supernumerary fingers and/ or toes. Its also a rare disease which basically gives u genes having an extra finger and toe more than the average human. The only way this could be cured is if the extra finger/toe connects to a narrow stalk of tissue. In other cases the extra finger/toe connects deeper in to bones and share it as one.
Signs And Symptoms: Children with polydactyly are born with 1 or more extra fingers or toes. The extra digit may be: A small, raised bump or a piece of skin that looks like a small finger or toe that isn't fully formed called "nubbin". No its not fatal. The life expectancy for anyone who has this disease is the same as a normal person who doesn't have it.
Genetics:Polydactyly is caused by a dominant allele.
Distribution: This disease is mostly common in the Indian population and it is second most common congenital (present from birth) hand disorder. Scientist still don't know whats the cause but 1 out of 3,000 live births are with polydactyly in India
